3D Printing Range of Motion

3D Printing The Act of Dressing 

The possibilities of translating gesture data into physical objects were explored in this research regarding the act of dressing.  The (X,Y,Z) data of a person wearing a jacket was collected to create a 3D printed object -- a pair of earrings. The process used Rhino, Grasshopper, and the makerBot Replica 2.

First, the data was captured as a CSV file and placed in Grasshopper. The data was then designed in the form of blob-like earrings. Each data point represents the position of the person's arm while wearing the jacket. The concept was to study the correlation in wearing garments with matching accessories through bodily motion.
