12 Graduate Speakers: A Taste of Grad School
My Dog & Pony: Fresh Blood V. was held last night at Parson’s auditorium on 12th street. This marks the fifth year celebrating particularly chosen design graduates, each from Yale, MICA, SVA, Parsons, RISD, and NYU ITP.
Commonality across work:
- The level of how deeply ingrained personal discoveries have permeated into each thesis.
- Whether from Cuba or Seoul, all graduates were articulate and concise in delivering their speech.
- Almost all students have traveled, leaving their comfort zone in search for user feedback or testing their prototypes (designs/ ideas).
Great questions & quotes:
“We don’t design interaction. We make the context for interaction”
“How can we change interaction behaviors or habits into thoughtful social outcomes?” (dining social settings)
“A graphic designer is not only a creator but, a translator of images” (documentation)
“Design that stimulates but, not overpowers your experiences. To give a sensation”
